The two from Michigan move,
old heads white as Winter ptarmigans,
along the resaca
on the asphalt circle
the waddle of old fat pooch before,
move stiffly, softly, quietly
to Chacalaca noise
exploding—
a cacophony in the half light.
And closeby a man
newly baptized
rises from the Rio Grande.
The Airstreams reflect
rich purples, pinks, oranges
flamboyant as Tropical Kingbirds,
Altamira Orioles.
A green jay squawks.
Then the warm dark.
